To keep things short (for once) and light-hearted, here’s a post about the games of 2024 that really got their hooks into me.
I wouldn’t call myself an achievement-hunter, but I collected all of them on these.
Jusant
I’m a sucker for a low-stress exploration game, but Jusant was the full package.
A low-stress exploration game where the main focus is climbing a parched, abandoned monolith, trying to figure out where the water and the people went.
A simple but beautiful art style combined with a gorgeous soundtrack by Guillaume Ferran had me glued to the screen from start to finish.
I liked it so much I earned the Platinum trophy on the Playstation and a Perfect Game on Steam.
Astro Bot
Who would have thought it, a puzzle-platformer with excellent mechanics, an inspired soundtrack and a boatload of Playstation fan-service would turn out to be so good.
This probably explains why Nintendo seems to be doing so well as the rest of the industry falls over itself to be as cloying and predatory as it can possibly be.
No micro-transactions, no egregious monetisation, just good clean fun.
